PIERRE PART, La. (AP) - State police say the drivers of two vehicles died in a head-on crash on Louisiana Highway 70 in Assumption Parish.

Trooper Evan Harrell says a pickup driven by 51-year-old Lester Albarado, of Pierre Part, was northbound early Sunday morning when his vehicle across the centerline in a curve and struck another pickup head-on.

Harrell says Albarado and the other driver, 57-year-old Gabriel Plaisance, also of Pierre Part, were pronounced dead at the scene.

He says both drivers were not wearing their seat belt.

Harrell says impairment is unknown at this time, and routine toxicology tests are pending for both drivers.

The crash remains under investigation.
