PENNSYLVANIA GROUNDHOG ‘FORECASTS’ SIX MORE WEEKS OF WINTER

Punxsutawney Phil’s handlers say he emerged from his lair Monday morning to see his shadow - a mean trick considering it rained most of the morning before falling temperatures turned that to a light snow.

PENNDOT LOWERS SPEED LIMIT ON SEVERAL INTERSTATES

Falling temperatures are expected to make already wet roads ice over, or be covered with snow once rainy weather turns to snow. The northern part of the state has seen snow since Sunday.

THREE OF FOUR TEENS CHARGED IN INTERSTATE ROCK-DROPPING WANT CASES MOVE TO JUVENILE COURT

All three Union County suspects were 17 on July 10 when the large rock smashed through the windshield of a car on Interstate 80. It struck 52-year-old Sharon Budd, a Uniontown, Ohio, teacher, in the face, critically injuring her. They’re charged as adults along with a 19-year-old suspect with aggravated assault and other counts.

FRANK LLOYD GOT IT WRIGHT

The U.S. Interior Department has nominated 10 buildings in seven states designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright for inclusion on the World Heritage List of the world’s most significant cultural and natural sites. The buildings include the iconic home known as Fallingwater in western Pennsylvania.

MEDICAL EXAMINER SAYS UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH MEDICAL CENTER RESEARCHER POISONED HERSELF WITH CYANIDE

Co-workers found 35-year-old Nicole Kotchey, of Ross Township, on the floor of her office at the Magee Women’s Research Institute in November. She died about four hours later of cyanide poisoning. Her death came shortly after another UPMC researcher, Robert Ferrante, was convicted of using cyanide to murder his neurologist wife in April 2013. Ferrante will be sentenced Wednesday.
