ALBANY, Ore. (AP) - Police in Albany, Oregon, who responded to a 911 hang-up call found a 64-year-old state Geology Department official dead in a home. They have arrested the man’s 26-year-old son for investigation of murder and assault.

The Albany Democrat-Herald reports (https://is.gd/HN7HMX ) that the body of Thomas Ferrero was found Sunday evening

Martin Ferrero is scheduled for a court appearance Tuesday. He was treated for minor injuries.

Police Lt. Travis Giboney says an autopsy is scheduled Tuesday to determine a cause of death for the elder Ferrero.

The Oregon State Police forensics team is assisting in the investigation.

The victim was recently named assistant director of the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries’ Mineral Land Regulation & Reclamation program.

The newspaper says Thomas Ferrero came back to Oregon after spending six years with the California Department of Conservation’s Office of Mine Reclamation.
