BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker is delaying the start time on Tuesday for some non-emergency state employees.

Baker announced Monday night that Executive Branch agencies will have an 11 a.m. start time because of the winter storm that brought about 18 inches of snow in the Boston area and around a foot in many other places.

He said, “A delayed start will allow some time in the morning for everyone to dig out and for crews to continue clearing roads and sidewalks.”

He said the MBTA will run a regular schedule on Tuesday. He urged commuters to be patient, allow plenty of time for travel, and check the MBTA’s website and social media for updates. The MBTA said delays can be expected because signals and switches can freeze in the continued cold weather.
