CLARK, S.D. (AP) - A teenager from Clark is going to prison for repeatedly stabbing his girlfriend after he had an argument with her.

KOKK-AM in Huron reports 18-year-old Gage Binger was sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempted murder and aggravated assault.

He was 17 years old last April when the attack happened, but his case was handled in adult court.

Prosecutor Kimberly Zachrison says Binger stabbed his ex-girlfriend nine times as she slept. The victim was 15 years old at the time and suffered a collapsed lung and other injuries. She’s 16 years old now and has recovered.

With good behavior, Binger could be released from prison in 7 1/2 years.
