CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A Durham-based real estate company says it has purchased a 17-story building that records show was Charlotte’s tallest building when it opened 90 years ago.

The Charlotte Observer reports (https://bit.ly/1uRJFdV) The Dilweg Companies paid $25.3 million for the Johnston Building, which includes 172,000 square feet of space.

Dilweg says the building is 84 percent leased.

In addition, Dilweg owns three office buildings in Charlotte. In 2013, the company paid more than $59 million to buy a 32-story office tower in uptown Charlotte. In all, Dilweg now holds 850,000 square feet of Charlotte-area office space.
