BENSALEM, Pa. (AP) - A firefighter suffered burns to the ears and shoulder while battling a fire that forced seven residents from their suburban Philadelphia homes.

The Bucks County Courier Times reports (https://bit.ly/1LDMpq2 ) the fast-moving Bensalem blaze damaged three townhouses Sunday night.

Fire officials didn’t release the injured firefighter’s name or condition. No other injuries were reported.

Bensalem Battalion Chief Robert Sponheimer tells the newspaper a preliminary investigation showed the fire started near a two-sided fireplace that was in use in the dining room of one of the homes.

He says heat from the fireplace appeared to ignite cardboard furniture boxes and quickly spread.

The home where the fire started was destroyed. The fire has been deemed an accident.
