JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A former funeral home near the Mississippi Capitol could become the property of state government.

House Bill 837 (https://bit.ly/1BE7Hhm ) would authorize the state to buy the former Wright & Ferguson building. An online listing (https://bit.ly/1BEa0kz ) shows the property is priced at $2 million.

The bill passed the House 115-0 on Thursday. It moves to a Senate committee for more work.

The funeral home closed last year. The building shares an intersection with the state Supreme Court building, the Capitol and the large Woolfolk state office building.
