WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A former teacher in the New York suburbs is facing federal child pornography charges.

The U.S. attorney’s office says Lyle Kamlet of Mount Vernon ordered child porn videos by mail and had some of them mailed to him at his school.

Kamlet faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison if convicted of receiving child pornography. He is also charged with possessing child porn, which has no mandatory minimum.

The charges cover a period from 2008 to 2010. The complaint, made public Monday, says the 62-year-old Kamlet was teaching at a school in Mamaroneck at the time. The school was not identified.

Kamlet’s lawyer, James Roth, said he would mount a vigorous defense and noted Kamlet was released on bail rather than jailed.
