READING, Pa. (AP) - Jurors are deliberating the case of a man charged in the shooting death of his estranged wife in eastern Pennsylvania almost a decade ago.

Forty-three-year-old Miguel Torres is charged with first-degree murder in Berks County in the September 2005 death of 32-year-old Barbara West-Torres, who was ambushed in a Reading parking lot.

Torres tearfully proclaimed his innocence Friday while pointing the finger at another person, and he said he fled the country after the slaying because he feared retaliation. He was arrested in March 2013 in Italy and extradited after prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty.

Jurors, who were selected from York County because of extensive publicity about the case, began deliberating Monday afternoon.
