GREENBELT, Md. (AP) - A Maryland man has been sentenced to two years in prison after he was convicted on charges of exporting American manufactured industrial products to Iran.

Thirty-four year-old Ali Saboonchi of Parkville was sentenced Monday in federal court in Greenbelt.

According to evidence presented at trial, Saboonchi conspired with others to export products to Iran in violation of a U.S. trade embargo. Prosecutors say the goods included stainless steel filter elements, which are used primarily in the oil and gas industry, as well as liquid pumps and valves and other industrial parts.
