BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Nexteer Automotive plans to move its world headquarters to the Detroit area from Saginaw County.

The Saginaw News reports (https://bit.ly/169XgH5 ) that the company on Monday is announcing the planned move, which involves less than 150 employees. The auto industry parts supplier’s engineering and manufacturing center will remain in Saginaw County’s Buena Vista Township.

The company’s President and Global Chief Operating Officer Laurent Bresson says the change “demonstrates our commitment to the state of Michigan and provides us with a strong platform for long term success.”

Bresson say the move is intended to place the company’s top leadership, global management and functional staff closer to customers, leaders and decision makers in the automotive industry. Nexteer is majority owned by AVIC Automobile Industry Holding Co.

A specific headquarters site hasn’t been announced.
