HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Metro-North Railroad is reporting some weather-related delays.

As the second snow storm in less than a week barrels into southern New England, transit officials have said trains were to operate on a normal schedule. However, delays of 30 minutes were reported on the New Haven line and 15 minutes on the Danbury branch line Monday morning.

The MTA says snow and ice-fighting equipment are in use and extra crews are clearing platforms of snow and ice. It also has snow-clearing equipment on bridges and tunnels and 9,800 tons of de-icing material.

A spokesman says Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is not issuing a highway travel ban as he did last week. Fourteen accidents have been reported since 4 a.m., with 44 motorist assists.

Motorists are advised to avoid travel if possible.
