PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say shots were reportedly fired in the vicinity of a high school but that there are no reported injuries or arrests.

Sgt. Vince Lewis says Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies initially responded to a call Monday morning about shots fired in an area bordering Phoenix and near Sierra Linda High School.

Lewis says witnesses reported seeing people involved in the shots fire running in the area as well as students running into the school, which is near 67th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

According to Lewis, the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution while the surrounding area was searched. The lockdown was released when the search was completed.

Sierra Linda is part of the Tolleson Union High School District.
