GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Washington County has received a final reimbursement of $220,000 for the buyout of some properties lost to the 2011 flood.

The buyout program came through the federal and state emergency management agencies. It bought the properties of homeowners for 75 percent of the appraised value and reimbursed the county for spending during the process. It involved five residences in Washington County.

County emergency manager David Burford tells the Delta Democrat-Times (https://bit.ly/15Q91Ta ) that the county was reimbursed more than $900,000.

Officials say the funds originally came from the county’s hazard and mitigation fund and will be returned to the fund.
