WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A 62-year-old Delaware woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car.

Delaware State Police say Mercy Odom had just gotten off a bus when she was hit around 5:30 a.m. Friday on Concord Pike in Wilmington.

Police say Odom was not in a crosswalk and stepped into the path of Jeep that hit her. The driver of the Jeep stayed at the scene.

The New Castle County Paramedics says Odom had injuries to her head, chest and upper extremities. Paramedics say she also may have had internal injuries. Odom was taken to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in critical condition.
