MARSEILLE, France (AP) - Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa has cast doubts about his future at the French club by announcing that his contract will expire at the end of the season.

The former Argentina coach, who has been influential in Marseille’s return to prominence this season, says he is “not ruling out the possibility of signing for an extra season.”

Bielsa, whose strong discipline and wise strategic decisions have helped Marseille to second place in the standings, also refused to comment on reports that he has been offered a role to coach the Saudi national team from next season.

Bielsa, who has forged a reputation as a tough-talking disciplinarian, complained last year about Marseille’s transfer policy, criticizing president Vincent Labrune for not consulting him during the transfer window.
