BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - It’s bitterly cold in Vermont.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind child advisory for the state until noon Friday.

The weather service reported that it was 2 degrees below zero as of 6 a.m. It felt like more like 17 below zero with the wind chill factored in.

High temperatures were expected go get into the single digits with wind gusts up to 30 miles an hour.

The lowest temperature ever reported in Burlington was 30 degrees below zero on Jan. 15, 1957, and on Feb. 12, 1979. The lowest in the state was 50 degrees below zero in Bloomfield on Dec. 30, 1933.
