NEW YORK (AP) - Con Edison is responding to a power outage affecting about 650 customers in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.

New York City officials notified the public about the power outage around 8:30 a.m. Friday. Con Edison spokesman Sidney Alvarez says several crews are responding to the affected buildings on 30th street between 8th and 9th avenues. The outage began at about 7 a.m.

Alvarez says crews are investigating the cause of the outage. Temperatures are dangerously low in Manhattan with a record of 2 degrees recorded in Central Park.
