ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) - A former Round Rock utility worker is facing criminal charges after authorities say he stole at least 10 propane tanks from businesses.

Justin Alan Shilander is charged with two counts of theft. Police say he has worked for the city of Round Rock since 2012, and was fired Thursday.

Detectives say they arrested Shilander after watching him break into a store’s steel cage on Wednesday, snatching eight propane tanks and loading them into the back of his truck. Police also say Shilander allegedly admitted to three other propane tank thefts earlier this month at other businesses.

Anyone with information involving any of the incidents is asked to contact Round Rock police.
