MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A Cottage Grove man has been arrested and accused of providing alcohol to a 16-year-old driver who was killed in Dane County crash.

Sheriff’s officials said Friday the 23-year-old man is being held in the Dane County Jail on a recommended felony charge of causing death by providing alcohol to a minor.

Sixteen-year-old Joshua Kopp of McFarland died Jan. 31 when he lost control of the pickup he was driving, went airborne and hit a large tree in the Town of Cottage Grove. Investigators say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

Authorities say the teen’s cell phone showed the suspect had supplied Kopp and other minors with alcohol the night of the crash.
