BRENTWOOD, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire man has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison on firearms charges, including aiding and abetting a false statement in connection with getting a gun and lying to FBI agent.

Prosecutors say 28-year-old Johnathon Irish of Brentwood lied to the agent while he was being interviewed in February 2013 about his personal firearms. That September, they said he instructed another person to buy a firearm for him, and to lie on the purchase form to circumvent the required background check.

The prosecution arose from an FBI investigation, with assistance from police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
