FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Two University of Arkansas professors have written a book chronicling the role the state has played in the movie business.

The book by Robert Cochran and Suzanne McCray, “Lights! Camera! Arkansas: From Broncho Billy to Billy Bob Thornton,” is published by the University of Arkansas Press.

It traces movie stars from Broncho Billy Anderson, the first cowboy star, to Mary Steenburgen, Billy Bob Thornton and many others. It also examines movies set in Arkansas, filmed in Arkansas or with other Arkansas connections.

Cochran and McCray, who are married, screened nearly 200 films for the book - from box-office bombs to great filmmaking.

The chronological narrative includes an appendix on documentary films, a ratings section and illustrations.
