ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York is trying to lure more snowmobilers from other states.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday announced a free snowmobiling weekend around New York on the weekend of March 7-8 for out-of-state and Canadian snowmobilers. Registration fees will be waived for registered and insured out-of-state snowmobiles on that weekend.

Snowmobile registration usually costs $100, or $45 through local snowmobile clubs.

The governor says town registration fees also will be waived the weekend of March 7-8 for all in-state and out-of-state snowmobilers.

New York has 10,400 miles of snowmobile trails.
