NEW YORK (AP) - Roman Catholic Cardinal Timothy Dolan has proclaimed solidarity among all Christians while participating in a New York service for the 21 Coptic Christians beheaded in Libya.

Dolan said after the Staten Island service on Thursday night that God can “bring good out of evil.”

According to the Staten Island Advance (https://bit.ly/1ARiOXz ) Dolan told worshippers at Archangel Michael and St. Mena Coptic Church that it’s important to remain united during a tragedy.

Bishop David of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of New York and New England said the victims’ “martyrdom” should be a “call to action” among religious and civil leaders, and the entire global community.

Militants published video of the beheadings by an Islamic State group affiliate on Feb. 15.
