SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A 27-year-old man faces charges in two central New York counties where authorities say he scammed more than 100 people in a snow removal scheme.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says it first started receiving complains about Thomas Zackoski of North Syracuse back in December. Officials say he placed advertisements for snowplowing services on Craigslist, had clients sign a contract and collected fees up front, but would never show up to do the plowing.

Deputies say he bilked people in his hometown and multiple Syracuse-area municipalities.

While the sheriff’s office was investigating, Zackoski was arrested in Tompkins County on similar charges.

He’s charged in Onondaga County with scheme to defraud. He’s being held in the justice center in Syracuse on $100,000 bail. It couldn’t immediately be determined if he has a lawyer.
