HOMEWOOD, Ala. (AP) - Police in Homewood say officers shot and killed a man while they were carrying out a search warrant for drugs at an apartment building.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1MENRsC ) Homewood police were executing the warrant at about 6:15 a.m. Friday when the shooting occurred. Homewood police said officers shot the man after he fired at them with a gun.

No police officers were injured.

The Jefferson County coroner’s office confirmed the man was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital. His name was not immediately released.
