EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A homeless man is accused of stealing diamonds and other gems from an Oregon gem dealer who was in Everett last month.

Everett police arrested 26-year-old Michael Fuller on investigation of burglary, theft and stealing a car. Bail was set at $25,000 at a hearing Thursday.

The Daily Herald says (https://is.gd/NfBFYv ) the 79-year-old traveling dealer lost much of his life savings when a small box of sapphires and other gems were taken on Jan. 17. The dealer had put the box in his rental car and returned to his motel room to get the rest of his belongings when his car was stolen from the motel parking lot.

The gems were valued at about $100,000 and were not insured. Police have recovered one ruby and are trying to find more.

They identified Fuller from surveillance video.
