SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Police in Savannah are narrowing their search for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a 72-year-old man from Vermont last month.

Savannah-Chatham County police said Friday investigators are looking for a red Chevrolet truck in the death of Peter Meyer. He was found dead Jan. 4 in front of his hotel after stopping for the night in Savannah. Meyer had been traveling from Quechee, Vermont, to his winter home in Vero Beach, Florida.

Police found pieces of a lens cover from a headlight near Meyer’s body. They have previously said investigators are seeking a 1999 or 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe or Suburban. But police disclosed the color for the first time Friday.

Meyer’s family and friends have offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
