SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A 21-year-old Syracuse man left paralyzed after being stabbed in the heart eight years ago has died, and authorities are considering new charges against the still-imprisoned assailant.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/1zsANgS ) that Kareem Dickerson died in late January from complications that led to bleeding in his brain. The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office says his death is deemed a homicide because it stemmed from the attack that left him unable to walk or talk.

Dickerson was 13 when he was stabbed in June 2007 in a fight with then-17-year-old Damarion Archie, who later pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced in 2008 to 10 years in prison. He remains behind bars.

Prosecutors say they’re reviewing the case to determine if Archie will face any additional charges.
