NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The Navy says one of its fleet logistics oilers is returning to its home port in Virginia.

The USNS Kanawha is scheduled to arrive at Naval Station Norfolk on Friday.

The ship has been deployed to the Navy’s Sixth Fleet, which includes the waters around Europe and parts of Africa. While deployed, it provided replenishment of fuel, cargo, stores and other supplies to ships that are out to sea.

The ship is crewed by civil service mariners and is under the command of Military Sealift Command.
