LIBBY, Mont. (AP) - Two Libby residents are charged for their roles in the weekend shooting death of a 38-year-old man.

The Western News reports (https://bit.ly/18L5bwv) 74-year-old Henry Carl Schroeder was arraigned Monday on charges of negligent homicide and tampering with evidence in the Jan. 31 death of Thomas Lawrence Veloz. His bail was set at $500,000.

Bail was set at $50,000 in an evidence tampering charge against Kimberlee Ann Patterson, who lives at the same address as the victim. Neither entered pleas.

The clerk of court did not immediately return a phone call Tuesday seeking to learn of Schroeder and Patterson have attorneys.

Prosecutors allege the shooting happened about 10 p.m. Saturday at Schroeder’s house and was reported at 3:30 p.m. Sunday by a witness.

Court records say Veloz had been shot at least five times. Officers found a .380-caliber pistol in Schroeder’s house.
