ATLANTA (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a man has been sentenced to more than 14 years in prison in an attempted armed bank robbery.

Authorities say 42-year-old Gerry Sanders of Atlanta used a toy gun during an attempted robbery at a Citizens Trust Bank in Decatur in September 2012.

After demanding that a teller hand over all the hundreds in her drawer, a security guard approached and ordered Sanders to drop the weapon. Prosecutors say the guard then fired and wounded Sanders in his leg - also grazing the leg of a bank teller.

Prosecutors say the guard detained Sanders until DeKalb County police and FBI agents arrived on the scene.

Sanders was sentenced to 14 years and six months in prison.
