DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit public bus driver has been arrested after a fight with a passenger.

The Wayne County sheriff’s office says a deputy saw the male driver strike a woman on the bus about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in northwest Detroit.

Sheriff’s officials say the driver reached the turnaround point in his route and asked the three passengers to exit so he could take his break. Two of the women left the bus, but the third woman exchanged words with the driver.

The department says the deputy used a chemical spray on the driver when he failed to stop the attack.

A handgun also was taken from the driver, who’s licensed to carry a pistol but not authorized to do so while driving.
