SEATTLE (AP) - Forecasters expect heavy rain to blow into Washington on Wednesday and Thursday.

The National Weather Service says more than 3 inches could fall in the Olympics, 2 inches in the Cascades and up to an inch in the western Washington lowlands.

Rain also is forecast across eastern Washington with a rising snow level in the mountains. The rain and runoff could cause storm water flooding in low-lying areas.

The Weather Service says a mild and rainy pattern will continue through the weekend statewide.
