NEW YORK (AP) - The National Weather Service warns that black ice and snow-covered roads may cause difficult travel conditions through the morning commute.

The agency says a winter weather advisory is in effect for the New York City area until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

It says icing, especially on untreated surfaces, will cause treacherous driving and walking conditions.

Scattered power outages also are possible from falling tree limbs.

Tuesday’s forecast calls for temperatures in the lower 20s but wind chills as low as 5 below, especially in the morning.
