SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A 32-year-old Fargo man is facing several criminal charges after authorities say he assaulted his girlfriend at a Sioux Falls hotel and tried to evade arrest.

According to Lt. Matt Burns, Cedrick Dean Hart assaulted the 19-year-old woman on Saturday night and attempted to stop her from calling for help or leaving their room at the Baymont Inn and Suites. Police were called to the hotel by front desk staff after other guests complained about the noisy late-night argument.

Burns says the woman had already escaped the room and was being chased by Hart through the parking lot when police arrived. He says Hart fought with officers and tried to flee before his arrest.

The Argus Leader (https://argusne.ws/1D8VjrH ) reports Hart is charged with six crimes, including aggravated assault, simple assault on an officer and fleeing police.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Hart has an attorney yet.
