NEW YORK (AP) - New York City is making housing for veterans a priority.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday that the city wants to halt homelessness by the end of 2015 for an estimated 1,000 veterans living in shelters and on the streets.

Outreach will be part of the initiative.
