PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a man shot in the chest in Southwest Philadelphia drove himself to a nearby precinct and flagged down a sergeant who rushed him to the hospital.

Police say the 22-year-old man drove three blocks to the 12th District police headquarters after the shooting around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at 66th Street and Paschall Avenue.

Police say the man lost consciousness in the cruiser on the way to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was immediately taken into surgery and is listed in critical condition.

Police say the shooter may have been driving a dark-colored Dodge Charger. An investigation is continuing.
