CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Jolene Jordan Hoover has resigned as Clemson’s volleyball coach after 22 seasons.

Hoover finished with a mark of 452-259, leading the Tigers to all eight of their appearances in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament. She coached Clemson to Atlantic Coast Conference championships in 1997 and 2007.

Hoover’s team was 18-14 this past fall and 6-12 in ACC play, its second straight season with a losing conference mark.

Hoover thanked the school for the opportunity and said she was proud of what she had built the past 22 seasons.

The school said assistant coach Ari Smith will take over as interim coach while a nationwide search is conducted for Hoover’s replacement.
