CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) - A Ventura County dentist has pleaded not guilty to setting the offices of potential competitors on fire.

The Ventura County Star (https://bit.ly/1CXCmIn ) reports that 63-year-old Leopold Weinstein entered the plea to three counts of arson two counts of attempted arson.

Weinstein’s attorney William Haney told a judge his client has “led an outstanding life.” But the judge refused a request to lower the dentist’s $250,000 bail.

The Sheriff’s Department said authorities were already interested in Weinstein when last Wednesday surveillance video captured him setting fire to a dental office in Camarillo.

The building, which was not badly damaged, housed a dental office where flammable liquids were found on the roof in June.

Weinstein was arrested on Friday.
