BALTIMORE (AP) - A former Maryland teacher charged with plotting to kill his wife so he could be with a 17-year-old has pleaded guilty to two counts of fourth-degree sex offense.

In exchange for his guilty plea Monday, The Baltimore Sun reports (https://bsun.md/1K9kVqz ) that prosecutors dropped charges of sex abuse of a minor and soliciting someone to commit murder against 31-year-old Ethan Richard Estevez.

Estevez, of Churchville, entered the plea in Harford County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to 11 months in jail, to be served beginning on Feb. 16.

Estevez was a teacher at the Center for Educational Opportunity in Aberdeen. He was charged last year with having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl who wasn’t his student.

Estevez’s wife has filed for divorce.
