JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A North Little Rock woman is facing criminal charges in the July death of her 2-year-old son.

Jacksonville police arrested and charged 23-year-old Jessica Nichole Rollins with first-degree murder and introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another person.

Officers were called to a Jacksonville residence and found Rollins’ son, Ka’Marion Hughes, not breathing. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

A September toxicology report said the child tested positive for oxymorphone, a painkiller that police say is prescribed for extreme pain and normally given to terminally ill patients.

Online records for Pulaski County Jail showed Rollins was still being held as of Wednesday. They didn’t list an attorney for her.
