JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Police in a northeastern Arkansas city are investigating the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man.

The Jonesboro Police Department says officers responded to a home invasion report on Tuesday night and found the man suffering a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where officials later pronounced him dead.

Authorities haven’t released his name pending the notification of his family.

Capt. Lynn Waterworth tells the Jonesboro Sun the man wasn’t a resident of the apartment, and it’s unclear if he was the home invasion suspect.

Waterworth says an investigation is ongoing and that few details could be disclosed in the shooting.
