CHICAGO (AP) - Three major Chicago newspapers have endorsed Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s re-election.

The Chicago Tribune, Crain’s Chicago Business and Chicago Sun-Times published editorials Friday citing the Democrat’s decisive approach to handling finances and infrastructure improvements.

However, the editorials say Chicago and Emanuel face major problems, including underfunded pension systems and crime.

The Tribune cites difficulties with getting information from Emanuel’s administration. Crain’s called Emanuel’s 2013 push to close dozens of schools “a disaster.” The Sun-Times says Emanuel should focus more on bringing jobs and amenities to every city neighborhood.

Still, the editorials say his four opponents haven’t brought forth realistic or detailed proposed solutions that are better than Emanuel’s.

Challenging Emanuel are Alderman Bob Fioretti, Cook County Commissioner Jesus Garcia, businessman Willie Wilson and activist William Walls.

The election is Feb. 24.
