RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - U.S. health officials say almost 480,000 people in North Carolina have either selected a new health insurance plan under the Affordable Care Act or been automatically re-enrolled during the latest sign-up period.

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell visited Raleigh on Friday to release the new numbers. The deadline for signing up is Feb. 15.

Officials didn’t provide separate figures for new enrollees and those who were re-enrolled automatically. Almost 358,000 North Carolina consumers selected plans last year, although not all necessarily had coverage at the end of 2014.

In the first two months of open enrollment, 92 percent of North Carolina consumers who selected plans were eligible for financial assistance.
