Chinese hackers have been named as suspects in the cyberattack on Anthem Inc. health insurer, various media outlets reported.

Bloomberg reported that individuals familiar with the investigation say the hack — which is believed to have resulted in the theft of up to 80 million Social Security numbers — may be linked to state-sponsored hackers in Beijing.

The breach is also believed to have exposed other sensitive and private information of Anthem customers, including birthdays, street addresses, email contacts and data related to income. The attack was discovered in late January and announced just this week.

The Washington Post reported that investigators say that other health-care companies may have been targeted in the attack.
