SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities say the federal courthouse in Salt Lake City was locked down for about 90 minutes after employees in the building reported hearing a possible gunshot.

U.S. Marshal James Thompson says investigators found no evidence of shots fired or weapons in two searches of the building Friday and it was re-opened about 2 p.m.

Thompson says it isn’t clear what caused the sound described as a loud, muffled bang.

He said all traffic in and out of the building was briefly stopped as a precaution during the search.
