GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Florida has hired Texas defensive line coach Chris Rumph to the same position.

Rumph replaces Terrell Williams, who was with the Gators about a month before returning to the NFL. Williams left Florida a day after national signing day to become defensive line coach for the Miami Dolphins. Williams spent the previous three years coaching Oakland’s defensive line.

Rumph is reuniting with new Florida coach Jim McElwain, who was Alabama’s offensive coordinator in 2011 while Rumph was the team’s D-line coach.

The move also could clear the path for highly touted defensive end CeCe Jefferson to sign his national letter of intent. Jefferson committed to the Gators on Wednesday, but hasn’t sent in the formal paperwork for various reasons.
