HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii lawmakers are deciding whether they should outlaw using electronic cigarettes in all places where traditional cigarettes are banned.

Proponents of the ban say electronic cigarettes emit hazardous chemicals. They say allowing people to vape confuses those that have to enforce no-smoking policies.

Fans of electronic cigarettes dispute that the devices are harmful.

The House Committee on Health deferred the bill on Friday. Committee Chairwoman Della Au Bellati says there are related bills moving through the Legislature that can tackle the issue.
